Two Weeks to Travel

Dear Jaydon,

It's hard to believe that it has come down to two weeks before we leave for China to come and get you. How did we get to this point? I have so much to tell you, but here is just the small version of the story.

Your older brother, John, used to say when he was younger "when are we going to China to get our little girl"? And your mother used to sometimes mention, "I wish we could adopt from China". Well, in late 2007, God got a hold of my heart and I knew that he wanted us to pursue adopting a child from China. Through a novel called Safely Home, God gave me a burden, first for the people of China and then he used that to lead me to you. We went through the process and our LID was 8-20-2008, during the Beijing Olympics. This was only 2 months after God lovingly placed you in the Luoyang Orphange, preparing you and us to be united one day.

I'll never forget the day, almost exactly two years later, when you were presented to us. A son, another son! It was love at first sight for your mother and I. God had prepared us for this and His timing is always perfect. And now, here I am, less than two months later preparing to come to get you.

I thought about you all day today. I had a long drive to Charlotte and couldn't get you off of my mind. I pray for you everyday. Your mother and brothers also are longing to see you, to hug and kiss you and to love you. Jaydon, you are going to make our family complete. We miss you and have never met you. Right now, you are probably having a morning snack, while I will be going to sleep soon. I hope you have a great day. I hope you received the package that we sent you. I hope your nannies are showing you our pictures and telling you who we are. I hope God is preparing your heart to receive your family.

Well, that's about all for now. I'll be counting the days, hours, minutes until I get to be with you.

Love,
Dad
